CHICAGO — Playboy Enterprises Inc. today reported a fourth-quarter loss of more than $6 million, compared to a $5.1-million loss in the same quarter last year.
In the quarter ended June 30, Playboy reported revenues of $39.6 million compared to a $37.8-million loss in the fourth quarter of 1988.
For the year ended June 30, Playboy reported a net loss of $3.8 million compared to a gain of $2.6 million the year before.
“Fiscal 1989 was a year of significant accomplishments,” said Christie Hefner, commenting on her first year-end results since taking over as chairman and chief executive officer in November. “While there was a cost to our actions which hurt fiscal 1989 results, we have appropriately and aggressively begun to make investments that will make this company grow in the ‘90s.”
