Briton Ties World Record in Breast Stroke

BONN — Nick Gillingham of Britain tied the men’s 200 meters breast stroke world record today when he clocked 2 minutes, 12.90 seconds in the final of the European swimming championships.
The record was set by Mike Barrowman of the United States on Aug. 3. Gillingham broke the European record of 2:13.52 set by Hungary’s Jozsef Szabo at the Seoul Olympics.
