The Anaheim City Council has voted unanimously to increase water rates citywide by an average of about 6%.
The rate hike will produce about $1.2 million more in revenue, which will be used to pay for cost increases in service maintenance, fire hydrant maintenance and the addition of staff to take care of new water facilities, according to a city report.
The average residential monthly water bill will go from $16.65 to $17.76. The rate increases take effect Sept. 1.
