9 Philippine Troops Killed

COTABATO, Philippines — Muslim rebels killed nine soldiers Wednesday in an ambush in the southern Philippines, the military said. Area commander Col. Patiyok Macugar told reporters that the ambush took place in Maguindanao province on Mindanao Island, about 560 miles southeast of Manila.
