Deon Johnson of Dominguez High intercepted two passes and scored the winning touchdown on an 81-yard kickoff return as the Dons defeated Lynwood High, 14-7.
Gahr High (3-3) won its first homecoming game in six years, beating Sonora, 24-16. It is the first time the Gladiators have won three games in a season since 1983.
La Mirada’s Joe Fernandez rushed for 202 yards and scored three touchdowns as the Matadores defeated Katella of Anaheim, 38-21.
Leon Neal of undefeated Paramount ran for 127 yards on 10 carries in a 31-7 victory over Warren High of Downey.
Who’s Not
Jordan is off to an 0-5 start. The Panthers, who lost to Bishop Amat, 31-7, last week, are giving up 33 points a game.
Pius X (0-5) suffered its third straight shutout, losing to St. Paul, 48-0. The Warriors have been outscored, 217-18.
Lynwood, a perennial power, has lost four games in a row. The Knights, whose only win is over Compton, lost last week to Dominguez High, 14-7.
A 27-0 loss to Mary Star was the fourth defeat in a row for the Cantwell Cardinals.
Centennial is 0-5 after a 28-6 loss to West Torrance. The Apaches of Compton have scored only 27 points this season.
