A 17-year-old youth who was shot in the head Tuesday after a basketball game at an Inglewood church, remained hospitalized Wednesday in critical condition.
Solomon Bradford of Inglewood was listed in critical but stable condition at Centinela Hospital after surgery, said Julius Mason, a hospital spokesman.
According to police, the shooting occurred about 9:20 p.m. after rival gang members were put out of the First Church of God on Crenshaw Boulevard when a fight broke out inside the church gymnasium. Beatrice Jordan, a church administrator, said a program for gang members is held every Tuesday evening.
As the fight continued in the church parking lot, someone pulled out a handgun and began firing, according to police. The gunman fled after the incident.
