Aligning Museums

The members of the Laguna Art Museum, the people of Laguna Beach and nearby cities should have a say in any decision made by the board of directors to align the museum with the Newport Harbor Museum.
It would be much more to the advantage of the Newport Harbor Museum to enter into such an alliance, in view of the fact that its indebtedness is so much greater. It is conceivable that, in the future, should they have financial difficulties, the solution might be to sell the Laguna Beach facility. This would result in a great loss to the community of Laguna Beach and surrounding cities.
An association with other museums in the county would result in the loss of the unique character of the Laguna Art Museum. It is time to call a halt when the corporate mentality invades the art scene.
