Titans’ Cochell Withdraws From Tennessee Talks

Larry Cochell, Cal State Fullerton baseball coach, said Thursday he has ended discussions with Tennessee about its vacant baseball coaching job.
Cochell has decided against traveling to Knoxville to look at Tennessee’s facilities and further discuss the job, he said.
“I’m extremely happy (at Fullerton) with the support the administration and staff have given me,” Cochell said in a prepared statement. “The tradition is here and the new stadium is coming. I’m excited about the future of Titan baseball.”
Cochell guided the Titans to the College World Series in his first year at Fullerton in 1987. The Titans finished with a 30-27 record last season.
