LAUREL, Md. — Never My Love stretched her undefeated record to three by capturing the $60,000 Heavenly Cause Stakes for Maryland-bred 2-year-old fillies at Laurel Race Course Sunday.
Never My Love circled the field, rounding the turn with jockey Chris DeCarlo and turned back the later rally of Love Me a Lot by three-quarters of a length in 1:20 2/5 for 6 1/2 furlongs.
Never My Love, who had won her two previous starts at the Meadowlands, earned $36,000 for owner Adnan Elassad of Saddle River, N.J., and paid $7.20, $4.20 and $4 as the second choice in a field of eight.
At Aqueduct Park in New York, Never Forgotten came from last in a five-horse field and scored a 2 1/4-length victory in the $68,300 Gravesend Handicap at Aqueduct Sunday.
