Cal Lutheran Loses 10th in Row, 76-62

The Cal Lutheran’s men’s basketball team outshot Cal State Hayward, 51% to 36%, Monday night, but the Kingsmen were outrebounded, 46-24, in a 76-62 nonconference loss at Hayward. The loss was the tenth in as many games for Cal Lutheran.
Jeff deLaveaga scored a team-high 19 points for Cal Lutheran, and teammate Mike Demeter added 14 points and eight rebounds, but the Kingsmen were plagued by 26 turnovers.
In a women’s college game:
Valley 74, Pasadena City College 54--Valley jumped out to a 13-0 lead and cruised to the first-round win in the Candy Cane Classic in Riverside.
Fourteen Valley players scored, led by Sandrine Rocher’s 13 points and Christine Rumfola’s 10 points. Valley improved to 9-2. Pasadena fell to 6-7.
BOYS’ BASKETBALL
Chaminade 88, Cathedral 82 (OT)--Charlie Fei tied the game in regulation with a layup after a steal, and Colin Havert went four for four from the free-throw line in overtime to seal a nonleague win at Chaminade.
Mark Mirkovich scored a game-high 23 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for Chaminade (4-3), while Fei added 22 points. Cathedral fell to 6-3.
Bishop Amat 61, Alemany 52--William Burr and Tim Fontenette scored 15 points each for Alemany (5-4) in a nonleague game at Bishop Amat.
BOYS’ SOCCER
Channel Islands 3, St. Bonaventure 0--Goalkeeper Rosario Pina recorded his second shutout of the season to lead the Raiders (4-1-1) at St. Bonaventure.
Harvard 6, La Jolla Country Day School 0--Andrew Weiss scored four goals for Harvard (5-1-1) in a nonleague match.
