NBC to Revive Vampire Serial: “Dark Shadows,” a gothic soap opera that earned cult status during its daytime run on ABC from 1966-71 and subsequently in reruns, is coming back as a two-hour movie for NBC. Shooting will begin in March. The movie, to be produced by Dan Curtis, the original show’s producer, may kick off a new nighttime series. Jonathan Frid is expected to reprise his role as vampire Barnabas Collins. The series also spawned two feature films, “House of Dark Shadows” in 1970 and “Night of Dark Shadows” in 1971.
