Some Reactions to Articles on Local Shopping Malls
- Share via
I generally look forward to reading the news in the San Gabriel section of the Los Angeles Times every Thursday. Today, Jan. 3, however, was not one of those special Thursdays.
I was appalled to read the item about the two Arcadia girls who think they are authorities on shopping at the various malls throughout the San Gabriel Valley, in addition to the other marvelous malls where they have the advantage to shop.
The “old fogies” they referred to, I presume, included their parents and their grandparents.
How truly unfortunate that these two girls have such a marvelous, educated and biased outlook about shopping! Are all their age-group shoppers out there to take their word as to where to shop for what?
Do they realize that there are a lot of people out there who can’t afford to shop at the “in” places they referred to in this article? Do I dare ask where they get their dollars and cents to shop? How touching to hear that grandmother is rich and the fact that one of the girls had a car purchased for her!
These girls better take a look around at the real world and “stop to smell the roses.” Needless to say, materialism plays a very big part in their lives.
The Times must have certainly been hard-pressed for some decent reading material to offer us loyal San Gabriel readers this type of item!
