STOCK STORY: Since the Persian Gulf War began Jan. 16, U.S. stock markets have come out of hibernation (D1). And nowhere have the bulls been stomping stronger than in Orange County, to the benefit of local companies. One, PacifiCare Health Systems, soared $8 to $23, while rival health maintenance organization FHP International gained $5.375 to $17.375. . . . AST Research continued its robust romp, adding $7.75 to $45. Even a home builder, Standard Pacific LP, joined the party, moving up $2.375 to $7.75. Analysts say investors expect a short war and recession.
