Protesting War and Protesters
As an Orange County resident who commutes to work 18 miles daily on a bicycle, I found it disturbing to see protesters of the war in the Persian Gulf carrying placards with the slogan “No Blood for Oil.”
How many of those protesters who drove their cars to the protest realize that the best way to end dependence on foreign oil is to stop being so dependent on the automobile.
If Americans want an energy policy to decrease dependency upon foreign oil, it can be as easy as riding a bicycle. But as long as there is an innate dependency upon the car, we may never develop an energy policy that works. Especially one that’s as simple as riding a bicycle.
