Randy Newman’s Anti-War Song
Yes, Randy Newman aside, pro-peace voices have “been virtually absent from the nation’s pop culture outlets” (“War Mood Shapes Pop Culture,” A1, Jan. 25). But Stephen Braun’s article neglected to mention that many of us in the pro-peace movement (1) find the war neither entertaining nor humorous, (2) find the idea of making money from this tragic situation abhorrent and (3) don’t watch network TV junk anyway.
Had The Times covered more pro-peace rallies, it might have reported some of the music and poetry that local artists have written about this cynical and immoral war. However, these works are not for sale.
