Home-Buying Campers: William Lyon Co., the Newport Beach builder with projects all over the state, says it will be putting on a free pizza dinner tonight for dozens of people who are camping out at two projects in its Hillsborough planned community in La Mirada.
Campers were plentiful when home-buying fever was raging through the Southland in 1987 and 1988, but they have become a rare species these days.
The hardy individuals waiting in line for a chance to buy into the Lyon projects are queued up in front of a condo development where prices start at $124,900 and a tract of single-family homes that start at $236,990.
