A Poway man was killed Tuesday night when a woman struck him with her car before going on to hit another car, San Diego County Sheriff’s Department officials said.
Richard Caputi, 33, of Poway, was walking near Pomerado and Twin Peaks roads in Poway when a car driven by Dayena Varga, 19, of Escondido, struck him, officials said.
After Varga struck Caputi, her car hit a car that was going east on Twin Peaks Road.
Caputi was pronounced dead at the scene, county medical examiner’s officials said.
Varga was taken to Palomar Medical Center, where she was listed in serious condition Wednesday night with a broken neck, a hospital spokeswoman said.
The driver of the second vehicle suffered a strained knee, Sheriff’s Department officials said, but was not hospitalized.
