HIGH SCHOOL VOLLEYBALL ROUNDUP : No. 1 Harvard Rebounds From Loss in Its Opener to Sweep Past Arcadia

Harvard High, ranked No. 1 in the Southern Section 3-A Division polls, bounced back from an opening-match loss last week to post a 15-13, 15-11, 15-13 win over Arcadia on Wednesday at Harvard.
Eric Wells had 18 kills and Adam Davirro added 16 kills for Harvard (2-1) in the nonleague match. Arcadia is ranked No. 4 in the 4-A Division poll.
In other boys’ volleyball matches:
Granada Hills, d. Banning, 15-0, 15-2, 15-8--Host Granada Hills (3-0) needed just half an hour to dispatch Banning in the nonleague match. Danny Asaoka had 12 kills for Granada Hills, and Jeff Grover had five aces.
Chatsworth d. University, 15-7, 16-14, 15-9--Gene Urcan had 13 kills and seven blocks for host Chatsworth in its season opener.
Chatsworth’s Kye Lee added 10 kills in the nonleague match.
Glendale d. Culver City, 15-5, 15-11, 15-11--Jason Harper had 13 kills, Jason Parkin had 12 and Nathan Callister 10 for host Glendale (4-1) in a nonleague match.
Canoga Park d. Poly, 15-1, 15-9, 15-8--Canoga Park improved to 1-2 with the nonleague win at home.
Van Nuys d. Grant, 15-9, 11-15, 15-12, 15-12--Brad Schultz led Van Nuys (2-1, 1-0 in conference play) to a home Valley Pac-8 victory. Teammate Jake Fox added 12 kills and five blocks.
Reseda d. Crenshaw, 15-12, 15-1, 15-9--Brandon Awerkamp had 10 kills and Jeff Kent had eight kills and three stuff blocks to lead Reseda at home.
