The Orange County Philharmonic Society has awarded a total of $12,000 to seven music students from three local colleges. The students, selected by their individual school faculties, are Angel Liu, Suzanne Schimmack and Sharon Buchta of UC Irvine; Tim Semanik and Brian Stockbridge of Cal State Fullerton, and Heidi Campbell and Audra Murphy of Chapman College.
Paid attendance for the American Ballet Theatre’s engagement at the Orange County Performing Arts Center in Costa Mesa averaged 68.8% of capacity, according to a spokesman for the hall. The 16-performance run, which ended Sunday (review, F3), grossed $1,225,284, the spokesman said, adding that the full-length ballets “Coppelia” and “La Bayadere” each averaged 74.9% of capacity while mixed repertory programs averaged 60.9%.
