Ashton-Tate Acquires Software Firm: Torrance-based Ashton-Tate said it acquired the remaining 49% interest in Interbase Software Corp. that it did not already own, making Interbase a wholly owned subsidiary. Terms of the agreement were not disclosed. Ashton-Tate purchased a 20% interest in Interbase in December, 1987, as part of a joint technology agreement, then increased its ownership to 51% in April, 1989. Interbase, located in Bedford, Mass., develops and markets a high-performance relational database management system for minicomputers and workstations.
