Nation IN BRIEF : FLORIDA : Shuttle Crew Relaxes as Liftoff Time Nears

The four-man, one-woman crew of the shuttle Atlantis reviewed flight plans and relaxed at Cape Canaveral, Fla., before the 6:18 a.m. PST blastoff Friday on a mission to put a 35,000-pound gamma ray observatory in orbit. The mission, which is to include the first U.S. spacewalk in five years, will end a four-month hiatus in launchings. There is a 60% chance of good weather at liftoff time, forecasters said. The flight is to land at California’s Edwards Air Force Base Wednesday morning.
