Monsanto to Sell Operation to Japanese: The St. Louis-based company will sell most of its animal feed ingredients business to Mitsui & Co. and Nippon Soda Co. The sale includes Monsanto’s Alimet and MHA feed supplements, which had sales last year of $140 million, said Robert B. Shapiro, executive vice president of Monsanto. Alimet and MHA are sources of ingredients in poultry feed. “This is a strong and successful business that is not central to our long-term objectives,” Shapiro said. “With this sale, we can more tightly focus on our core strengths and better position our company for future growth.”
