A 22-year-old man was chased by witnesses onto a bus and later arrested after he fatally stabbed a day laborer Monday morning, the Sheriff’s Department said.
Adria L. Solis, also a day laborer, was being held without bail in County Jail downtown in the stabbing death of the unidentified man, described as in his 20s, Sheriff’s Department spokesman Roy Stamper said. The stabbing took place in a day laborer camp in the 300 block of Maple Street in Ramona.
Witnesses said the 8:40 a.m. stabbing was unprovoked, adding that the victim and Solis knew each other.
After the stabbing, Solis was chased by three witnesses onto a North County Transit District bus, Stamper said. The bus driver called authorities.
The witnesses brought sheriff’s deputies back to the camp, where the victim was found with a single stab wound in the chest, Stamper said. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
