U.S. Denies Report on Jordan Military Parts

WASHINGTON — The White House on Wednesday denied a report that it allowed the shipment of military spare parts to Jordan until just before the outbreak of the Gulf War in January.
It did say the U.S. government investigated whether Iraqi front companies in Jordan were violating economic sanctions against Iraq but found no evidence of it.
London’s Financial Times reported that the U.S. shipments continued even after U.S. intelligence agencies warned White House officials that such shipments were likely to be passed on to Iraq.
