You Say Tomato: Two best-actress Oscar winners, Kathy Bates and Jessica Tandy, will team to star in a film. “Fried Green Tomatoes at the Whistle Stop Cafe,” a story about family, friendship and murder in rural Alabama, is scheduled to start production in Atlanta in June. The movie will also star Mary Stuart Masterson and Mary-Louise Parker. Bates won her Academy Award this year for “Misery,” and Tandy took her statuette last year for “Driving Miss Daisy.” Jon Avnet will direct the film.
