A Pacoima man who pleaded no contest to charges of dumping paint thinner and leftover paint into a storm drain has been sentenced to 30 days in Ventura County Jail and ordered to pay a $5,000 fine.
A Thousand Oaks resident saw Erick Gonzalez, 20, pouring the waste into the storm drain on Alice Drive near Thousand Oaks on April 3, Deputy Dist. Atty. Gregory W. Brose said.
Officials with the county Fire Department and the county Environmental Health Division gathered evidence, and Gonzalez was stopped by sheriff’s deputies and arrested a short time later.
He pleaded no contest in Ventura County Municipal Court on Tuesday to a misdemeanor charge of illegal disposal of hazardous waste and was sentenced by Judge John R. Smiley.
