Two suspected gang members were arrested in Simi Valley early Tuesday morning after police found them burglarizing a truck, authorities said.
Two residents of the Meadowood Apartments in the 1700 block of Cochran Street saw two men breaking into a pickup truck at 1:40 a.m. Tuesday, police said.
The residents called police, who discovered Gustavo Alvarez Meza, 21, of Mission Hills and Israel Maldonado, 18, of North Hollywood burglarizing a second truck, authorities said. The two ran but were apprehended by officers and a police dog. Meza, who was stopped by the police dog, suffered two bite wounds to his leg.
Meza and Maldonado were arrested on suspicion of two counts each of auto burglary and booked into County Jail. Bail was set at $10,000 each.
A juvenile waiting in the suspects’ car was also arrested in connection with the burglary but was later released for lack of evidence, police said.
The stereo equipment, television set and compact discs reportedly taken from the trucks were recovered.
