Neil Coffman and Coley Kyman have become the first Cal State Northridge men’s volleyball players to be named first-team All-Americans.
Coffman, a 6-foot-3 senior outside hitter from Chatsworth High, and Kyman, a 6-5 sophomore middle blocker from Reseda High, were named to the American Volleyball Coaches Assn.’s six-man All-American team.
The first team consisted of two players each from national champion Cal State Long Beach, runner-up USC and Northridge.
USC’s Bryan Ivie, a 6-7 senior hitter, was selected player of the year by the AVCA’s All-American committee, which consisted of Coach Arnie Ball of Indiana-Purdue Fort Wayne, Coach Ken Preston of UC Santa Barbara and Coach Tom Peterson of Penn State.
The other first-team selections were hitter Brent Hilliard and middle blocker Brett Winslow of Long Beach and setter Dan Greenbaum of USC.
