The Lakers’ Magic Johnson has teamed with Wayne Gretzky and Bruce McNall of the Kings in the horse racing business.
Johnson has joined Gretzky and McNall in a partnership in Honor Grades, an entry in the Preakness Stakes. Johnson has 25% interest in the horse.
Chris McCarron will ride Honor Grades, the nearly full-blooded brother of last year’s Preakness champ Summer Squall.
McNall, Summa Stable owner, encouraged Johnson to step into horse racing.
“It is a great thrill to be involved with Bruce McNall and Wayne Gretzky from a business standpoint,” Johnson said in a news release. “Both men are class acts in their many endeavors and I am looking forward to a magical moment at the Preakness next Saturday.”
