May is National Bicycle Month, and the city of Irvine is going the wrong direction (“Crackdown on Cyclists Announced,” May 3). Skinner, “ . . . the U.S. Department of Transportation understands how important it is to accommodate bicyclists’ needs when planning for infrastructure improvements for the future. . . .”
With its mix of housing and business, Irvine should be encouraging its citizens and industry to support the use of bicycles.
