HARRY SHEARER

In writing “Red, White and Can-do” (April 7), Harry Shearer must have used all of his literary restraint to avoid calling those who dare to show their patriotism by sporting Old Glory as “really, truly, you know,” boobs.
I suggest that a special flag be created for the “so-called smarties” a la Shearer. A great protest banner should be hung right up there along with the American and state flags. Think of all the human energy it would save now used in protest marches, all the paper it would save in placards and columns written with pens dipped in drivel.
Or we could fly a pair of Shearer’s shorts. That should keep him feeling really good.
