BASEBALL : DAILY REPORT : DODGERS : Scioscia Catches His 1,200th Game

Mike Scioscia said he still does not consider himself among the great Dodger catchers even though he caught his 1,200 game for the Dodgers Monday, a Los Angeles record.

The all-time franchise record of 1,218 games, held by John Roseboro, should belong to Scioscia within a month.

“It’s an honor that my name has been in the lineup card so many times, but I am not presumptuous enough to consider myself among the greats like Roseboro, Roy Campanella and Steve Yeager,” Scioscia said. “This is a milestone, and I’m lucky to have been around long enough to reach it, but I don’t consider it really great.”

Mike Sharperson, who has been nursing a sore left leg since last week, was placed on 15-day disabled list, retroactive to May 8. The Dodgers recalled Greg Smith from Albuquerque. Smith is hitting .238.
