Forced Retirement: a Battle for the Ages
I wish to congratulate Beverly Beyette on her illuminating article about the mandatory but totally unnecessary and reluctant retirement of a woman professor at USC. The whole situation has infuriated me, as it should all professional women.
How dare they say we belong out to pasture because of an arbitrary number without reviewing each individual case?
Fortunately, I am with a company and in a business where there is no carved-in-stone arbitrary retirement age. I have been a stock broker for more than 30 years and am in the top producers circle of my company. I will be 74 on my next birthday. I have no retirement plans and still enjoy the challenge of my work.
