Softball Field Fee Schedule Reduced

ANAHEIM — City officials have set a new fee schedule for use of the city’s softball fields by resident sports groups after complaints that some teams were improperly charged.

The fees for residential groups have been lowered from $20 per hour to $13.50 for a single-field use.

The revised fee schedule was set to clear discrepancies that denied some nonprofit residential groups a fee reduction. The new fees are retroactive to last July; groups that feel they were overcharged must file an appeal by June 30.

According to a city staff report, residential groups are only to be charged for direct costs of using the lighted softball facilities. Groups from other cities are expected to pay that price plus a percentage of overhead expenses.
