Two small earthquakes struck four minutes apart in Riverside County near the San Jacinto Mountains, but there were no reports of damage or injury. The first quake at 8 a.m. registered magnitude 3.3 and was centered two miles northeast of Hemet, 80 miles east of Los Angeles, said Robert Finn, spokesman for Caltech in Pasadena. The second temblor, with a magnitude of 3.2, struck at 8:04 a.m. in the same location, said Finn. “It was just a rolling sensation,” said Hemet police dispatcher Luann Jacks. “We had about 20 calls. They just wanted to know if it was an earthquake. There were no reports of injury or damage.”
