Hitachi to Open HDTV Lab in U.S.: The Japanese electronics maker hopes to market the high-definition television technology developed at the research center in Princeton, N.J., by 1998, a company official said in Tokyo. The lab will have about 20 researchers, said the official, who requested anonymity. Sony Corp., Toshiba Corp. and Matsushita Electric Industrial Co. already operate HDTV research centers in the United States.
