Scott Erney threw a six-yard pass to Thomas Woods for the only touchdown as the visiting Barcelona Dragons defeated the turnover-plagued Birmingham Fire, 10-3, to advance to the WLAF championship game.
Erney’s touchdown pass came with 10 seconds remaining in the first half, capping a 14-play, 89-yard drive that put the Dragons ahead, 10-0. Erney accounted for 63 yards in the drive but completed only nine of 28 passes for 62 yards.
Birmingham finished with two fumbles and quarterback Eric Jones was intercepted three times, including two by safety Glenn Cobb. Win Lyle also missed a 45-yard field goal attempt.
Barcelona will meet the winner of tonight’s game between the London Monarchs and the New York-New Jersey Knights.
