Litton Industries Plans Cuts: The Beverly Hills-based conglomerate will phase out much of its integrated automation division, which it says will reduce fourth-quarter earnings by $100 million. Litton will close its inspection and process control product lines. That business produces optical systems to inspect continuous flow products, like steel, or sort produce by size and quality.
