A gunman barricaded employees of an Escondido auto parts store in a bathroom after robbing the business of more than $3,000, police said.
Police were still looking Tuesday for the man who sneaked in the back door of Rising Sun Import Parts, 641 N. Broadway, after the business closed Monday night, a police spokeswoman said. Once inside, the bandit confronted two employees who were closing up and forced them at gunpoint to open a locked safe, she said.
The bandit emptied $3,000 from the safe into a white plastic bag, then demanded money from the employees, getting $20 from one and a wallet from the other, the spokeswoman said. The man escaped after forcing the workers into the bathroom and shoving a heavy desk against the closed door.
