Sandy Galbraith of Fountain Valley shot a two-under-par 70 to lead after the first round of qualifying in the California State Amateur championship.
Galbraith, 45, birdied the 14th and 18th holes on the Spyglass Hill course at Pebble Beach and was the only player among 102 to break par. Half of the field played at Spyglass Hill and the other half at Pebble Beach. Players will switch courses for today’s final qualifying round.
