IT’S NO TAMMANY: The big losers in Tuesday’s Assembly election may be the Board of Supervisors. . . . All five supervisors backed Orange Councilman William G. Steiner, bested by anti-tax activist Mickey Conroy. That unsuccessful endorsement irked Conroy’s friends, including the entire Orange County legislative delegation in Sacramento. . . . Such political miscalculations by the board may not translate well in the capital, unwelcome news for a county hit hard by state funding cuts.
