Monrovia : Annual Cleanup Day Urged
A requested 8.5% increase in monthly trash fees for residents was delayed Tuesday night after Mayor Robert Bartlett requested that the city’s refuse hauler sponsor an annual cleanup day.
Bartlett proposed that Newco Waste Systems pick up oversized items such as couches and appliances free on a specified date that could be billed as a citywide “Clean Up Monrovia” day.
A representative of Newco said he would discuss Bartlett’s request with the company’s president before the next City Council meeting.
Newco is asking for increased monthly fees from $8.87 for a 90-gallon trash container to $9.54 and from $7.34 to $7.88 for a 60-gallon container.
