California Produce
In his column (On California, Nov. 22), Peter King states that the housewife “doesn’t give a fig where her figs come from.” This housewife cares a great deal where her produce comes from. Many growers in other countries spray with pesticides that are banned in the U.S. I avoid buying produce that might be sprayed with banned pesticides. I want to buy fresh California produce and feel fortunate to live where I can do that.
