Salesman Kidnaped During Car Theft

Two men walked into a downtown San Diego Volkswagen dealership Saturday, asked to test-drive a Cabriolet and then kidnaped a salesman while they stole the car, San Diego police said.
The men drove the car out of Metro Volkswagen-Audi on Kettner Boulevard at 3:39 p.m., and when they didn’t return for 30 minutes, the dealership’s manager called the police.
Inside the car northbound on Interstate 5, the salesman, Fernando Ruiz, asked the driver to take the Sea World exit. The man in the back seat pulled out a gun and took Ruiz’ wedding ring and gold chain but let him keep a gold cross attached to the chain.
They let Ruiz, 24, out on Interstate 805 at I-5 in Sorrento Valley, where the California Highway Patrol picked him up. Late Saturday night, the two men had still not been found. The car has paper license plates with the Metro Volkswagen-Audi name on them.
