KUWAIT CITY — The U.S. Embassy said Sunday that two Americans and a Filipino are missing along the Kuwait-Iraq border and said they probably had strayed into Iraq.
The three engineers were surveying an 8,600-square-foot area for mines near the demilitarized zone as part of their work for a private company and failed to return to their base camp, local news reports said.
David Martin, Jim Aduddell and Joey Ducat were last seen Friday morning leaving for the zone as part of their survey to try to win a contract for demolition work, the reports said.
The zone extends six miles into Iraq and three miles into Kuwait.
The Filipino Embassy said it was looking into the case of Ducat but had no details.
The Red Cross has been notified and will try to track the three through its office in Baghdad, the Iraqi capital.
