Alpha League’s Message to Montclair Prep Lauded
- Share via
It was very inspiring to read in your Nov. 27 edition that Alpha League administrators had taken the initiative to send the message to Montclair Prep administrators, faculty and boosters that their immoral and unethical values would no longer be tolerated in the Alpha League. The message which Montclair Prep (and to a lesser extent, Canyon High and Harry Welch) has been exhibiting through their well-publicized problems with the Southern Section is simply that it is OK to cheat, just do not get caught. Further, if you are caught, then attempt to portray oneself as a victim, not the transgressor.
The Alpha League should be commended for taking a position which promotes integrity and honesty, regardless of the consequences which may result from the position in the future. It is unfortunate that the Southern Section (and Commissioner Stan Thomas) did not exhibit such resolve recently by requiring Montclair Prep to adhere to the provisions of the agreement Montclair Prep entered into in the spring of 1991.
