Kazmer came to Orange Coast after playing a season at Carroll College in Waukesha, Wis. Kazmer, 5 feet 11, decided to leave after her coach wanted her to switch to small forward.
She took the opportunity to change more than just colleges and moved to California. She looked at colleges and settled on OCC, where Coach Mike Thornton is happy to have her play center.
Kazmer was 17 of 22 from the field in two games last week. She made eight of 12 shots and had 16 points Wednesday as OCC beat Riverside, 86-46.
She then made nine of 10 shots from the field and six of six free throws to finish with 24 points as the Pirates beat Cypress, 80-63, Friday.
Kazmer is shooting 61% (101 of 166) this season and averaging 11 points and six rebounds.
Another top performer:
Golden West’s Melanie Iwamasa, who scored 46 points as the Rustlers won two games.
