Gasoline was splashed on the floors of two Temple City houses and ignited early Wednesday morning, causing $260,000 in damage, authorities said.
Flames had broken through the roof of a three-bedroom home at 6133 Hart Ave. when 17 firefighters arrived shortly after 3:13 a.m., Los Angeles County Fire Capt. Robert Hewitt said. A house in the rear at 6129 Hart Ave. was also on fire, Hewitt said.
Residents were not home at the time of the fires, Hewitt said. The blazes were extinguished after five minutes. No firefighters were injured. Sheriff’s Department arson investigators are assigned to the case.
