Trojans Close to Deal With Pigskin Classic

USC has tentatively agreed to open the 1993 season in the Disneyland Pigskin Classic this August in Anaheim Stadium, Coach John Robinson’s home field during his nine-year tenure as the Rams’ coach.
The Pigskin deal hasn’t been finalized, but a source in the USC athletic department said: “It’s going to happen--we’re going to be in the game, but I don’t know who we’re playing. I’m sure it will be a good opponent, and it’s great to be in this game. The whole department shares this view.”
Officials at Disneyland and the Orange County Sports Assn., which organizes and promotes the game, could not be reached Friday night.
An opponent for USC could be named as early as next week. Among the candidates are Syracuse and Boston College.
