TAKE A HIKE: You will seldom see Orange County’s backcountry as beautiful as it is right now, says the U.S. Forest Service. Abundant rain has waterfalls flowing and wildflowers growing everywhere. . . . But the rain has also eroded some trails, so be be careful, a spokeswoman says. Also, take plenty of water along; streams are not safe for drinking. . . . Most popular trail: from Holy Jim Canyon (off Trabuco Canyon) to Santiago Peak, the county’s highest at 5,687 feet.
